There comes a time in every pandemic when one decides it is time to follow ones calling and at this moment after many years of dreaming a boat of moderate sum was purchased. Sonas (pronounced ‘saw-nus’) Gaelic for happiness was the perfect option. Lying on the East Coast of Canada in the shelter of the inland estuary of Lake Brasd’or presented the opportunity to refit, repair, and learn its ways without the many worries of the challenging sea. And so the journey began…

Sonas

As newbie owners in another city, we found the helpful and welcoming spirit of Cape Bretoners to our benefit. And so it was when we pulled up to Sonas as she lay on the hard in Ben Eoin Marina one fine day in August of 2021, it was love at first sight.

With a Gaelic fiddle tune, we soon had Sonas in the water and ready to steam to St Peter’s, her new home.
